It's been 8 months since I posted. I'm a bad blogger. I hadn't quite adjusted to life back into the classroom when it became clear several months ago that life was going to change. We are now in a new state and settling into a new chapter. I am enjoying my new role that has taken me another step closer to Professional Development and working both with Pre-K teachers and a pilot project for staff development with early childhood teachers. Enjoying is really and understatement. I am LOVING it! So now that I'm more settled it's time to bring the blog back and get to work once again. Stay tuned as the Disney recommendations, printables and teaching materials start flowing once again!

I like the word tenacious. The way it rolls off your tongue. It really is the perfect word for holding too something - a belief, an ideal, a person. To me, it means if you are tenacious enough to believe in something so strongly, you'll take that next step and do something with it - you'll be the change we need in the world. Sticking to what you believe, what's in your heart is hard, and we need a tough word to give the courage to keep going. Be tenacious today.

Printable: Lyrics: Try Everything
We like Zootopia at my house. I pretty much fell in love at first viewing. I adore the message, I adore the characters. We are very excited to learn that pre-parade at the Boo To You Halloween Parade at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is the Zootopia Party Patrol with Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps interacting with the kids and passing out candy. Every time I think about what we are getting to do on our next trip and new things I learn about the Halloween and Christmas party I get so excited, thankful, grateful and blessed. Why? Because the next trip isn't the original we set out to do. However, life happened and we didn't even think of it as lemons but just automatically made lemonade and made this the Disney trip of a lifetime. For real, we're doing like 5 things on our #DisneyBucketList so what else is there to do but think that really this is how it's supposed to be. So really that means Try Everything. Which is the theme song from Zootopia. No giving up (no matter how bad I want to, and believe me in that past month I have wanted to), keep pushing, keep trying. I love this song so much I made 3 printables out of it. Download your favorite, download all or just get a pick me up.

Printable: Disney: Jack Skellington
I love Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas. I love his curiosity and wonder to seek more than just his home in Halloweentown. So his quote below is all about the faith we have in others and our own wonder.

Printable: Faith: Other People's Storm
This saying today was what I needed. And we all do it. We judge everyone and everything by our standards, our circumstances, our storms, our world. When that is not fair because we all have different standards, different circumstances, and different storms. So look for something positive.

Printable: Motivational: Optimism
It's really hard to be optimistic all the time. I've come to realize no matter how much I say I don't want to be catty or negative, it always comes out anyway. So I've given myself time to be in my feelings to be about things but when I come out the other side of them I make sure moving forward I have an optimistic outlook. Glass half full is always better than a glass half empty.

Disney: Ride Recommendation: Soarin'
What I will talk with you about today is one of my FAVORITE rides at Disney.
Nowhere else can you board a real live Erector set, smell the smells, dip and soar other than taking a ride on Soarin'.
Park: Epcot
Area: Future World West
Fastpass+ Available
First, get a Fastpass. Make sure this is your Tier 1 choice at least one day when you go to Epcot. It's not only my favorite but a Disney fan favorite and must do so it always has an average of a 120-minute wait. They have made the queue fun and made it interactive with games in the queue. This ride did recently get a refurb just this past June. They added a third theater and have a new movie. Previously it was Soarin' Over California and you took in the sights and smells of California. On June 17, 2016, they debuted Soarin' Around the World. So now you take in the sights of our wonderful world. Superman and Cupcake have watched the new one on YouTube and are impressed and excited to ride. I don't like to be spoiled so I didn't watch - I'll experience it when we go on our next trip to Disney. Now, there are 3 elements to this ride that I love! The music - I love the Soarin' soundtrack! It's perfect for what you're doing and does what a soundtrack is supposed to do meld into the movie. The music makes this an over-the-top experience because I feel it is what you hear should you actually be hand gliding over the world. The smell - it's hot, everyone is sweating, pack about a hundred of you together and it should smell like my classroom did after seeing high school and then middle school but no. They spray in smell to match what you're seeing - you're in the mountains, you get a subtle pine scent. You're by the sea, smell that salt air. My favorite is the orange grove because you get fresh oranges. You don't even realize it, it's just part of making it a memorable ride. It's my favorite. I kind of hope they make the orange smell-it into a car freshener - I would get it. Lastly, the cinematography is fantastic, really spot on. It's hard to make a movie in the style of pretending you are flying over it because it's too easy to feel like you ran into buildings or into tops of cars (Europe in the Air at Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a prime example) but this is totally believable. So the overall point is go ride Soarin'. Seriously, go. Right now, go ride Soarin'. You can thank me later.

Printable: Teaching: Scissors Time Out
It happens all the time. You have a kid, who has scissors, and are using them whenever they want and they aren't doing anything appropriate with them. So I found this idea on Pinterest and used it this past year. I LOVED it! Worked wonders! Enjoy!
